About
The 'Queen's Beach' of Nin: around three kilometres of true sand along the lagoon, part of a seven-kilometre sandy stretch the national tourist board calls Croatia's longest, with a straight-across view of the Velebit massif. Legend says the wife of King Tomislav, Croatia's first king, favoured it — hence the name. The lagoon is shallow, warm and reliably breezy, which splits the beach between families at the town end and kitesurfers further out. The Nin lagoon is also home to Croatia's best-known peloid (medicinal mud) site, a tradition dating to antiquity.

Season
Hospital-supervised peloid therapy runs in summer only — the 2026 season ran from 29 June to the end of August, mornings from 7:30, on a referral from a GP. Outside those weeks the lagoon is open and free.
Evidence
The largest deposit in Croatia — about 120,000 m² by a 2022 peer-reviewed survey. Medically supervised therapy has run since 1965, today under the rehabilitation department of Zadar General Hospital. No mineral table for the mud has been published; brochure figures are not repeated here.
Protection
A Natura 2000 lagoon with eight habitat types. The shoreline vegetation of the sand and mud flats is strictly protected — apply the mud where you find it, rinse in the sea, take nothing away.
