Istria’s Wellness Hotels: Where the Spa Is the Reason to Go

Rovinj is the only town in Croatia where three genuinely world-class hotel spas sit within two kilometres of each other. Between them they carry more than 8.000 reviews. This guide is about the one question those numbers don’t answer: when the spa justifies the room rate, and when you are better off renting an apartment and buying a day pass.
When the spa is worth the room
Hotel spas price two different things: access and treatments. If you will use the thermal circuit twice a day for three days, the room rate starts to look like a spa membership with a bed attached. If you want one massage and a sea view, an apartment plus a day pass is usually half the price.
Ask before booking rather than on arrival: whether the spa admits non-residents and during which hours, whether treatments are included or billed separately, and whether children have their own window in the pool schedule. In peak season resident guests get priority, and the day pass can quietly disappear from the offer in July.
